Administrative authorities have informed the public and other organisations to stay alert as monsoon rains are expected across Pakistan in the next 24 to 48 hours which can trigger flash floods across the country.

Last year as heavy rains devastated the country causing super flooding in different parts of the country’s regions affecting millions of people’s homes destroyed due to climate change.

This year, Approximately 1 million people will be impacted by these rains.

Major cities in Punjab like Lahore, Sialkot and other regions have the highest amount of rainfall expected. “Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman said”.

These rains can cause urban flooding in major cities, and municipal areas have huge risks of land sliding.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) had warned earlier that there is a higher risk of heavy rains and thunderstorms in Punjab areas.

Furthermore, moderate rainfall is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and Malam Jabba over the next two days.

In addition, India releases water into the Ravi River as NDMA has issued a warning to the local administration and people living along the sides of the Ravi River after India released around 185,000 cusecs of water from Ujh Barrage.
