40 dead after boat sinks in Mediterranean near Lampedusa Italian Island

More than 40 people have died after a boat sinks in the Mediterranean Sea near to Italian Island Lampedusa. 

Some of the survivors were rescued by Maltese patrollers as they confirmed that the boat sank off in the Italian region. Survivors talked to the coastguards that they were hit by a huge wave where the boat hitted hard and then sank off near the Italian shores.

A boat carrying 45 people including children and women, 40 of them have died near the Lampedusa island.

These African migrants regularly use boats in the Mediterranean Sea to reach European countries in search of a better life.

Dozens of boats drowned every year in the Mediterranean Sea carrying hundreds of people using the sea route risking lives and hundreds of them died out.

There are numerous agreements signed between the Italian, Tunisian and libyan coastguards to curb these activities people risking their lives in the Mediterranean but none of them could stop these people from coming third-world backward regions and countries to find refuge in the EU countries.
