Zoox, Inc. which is a subsidiary of Amazon, has started its autonomous, electric robotaxis for testing on public roads in las vegas. The company announced that it is the first time that an autonomous robotaxis operated without paddles and steering wheels on public roads in Nevada.
Zoox started with a vision to start small and think big, they have to expand the next few months to other cities and towns.
These autonomous robotaxis can transport up to 4 people at a time in a commercial landscape with a speed of 35 mp/h ( miles per hour ).
Zoox says that they have multi vehicles in testing as their electric robotaxis operational on public roads in Las Vagas since 16, 2023 to be exact.
The company says that Nevada is much better when it comes to testing autonomous vehicles in the commercial landscape as it compares to California.
Holding Permits for driverless vehicles is much easier and much faster to acquire As mentioned in Nevada Law, Autonomous companies that want and test electric autonomous vehicles in Nevada State need to certify these vehicles as they meet the Nevada “minimal risk condition” to be able to stop if there is a trouble-making error in the system.
